Here at last for your information are the transcripts of the
scrolls I promised I'd do along with some notes. 'pologies for any
delay.
Scrolls I and II are from an old hermit who Master Enchanter
Tiberius put us on to. Scroll III was collected (along with some
other magical scrolls) from a ruined village inhabited by the
Master's undead.
I have pondered the scrolls for a short time and have a few
thoughts to go with them.
Scroll I. indicated the Master has been a threat to Brisel [?]
175 years ago. At that time he appears to have also been searching
for the sword and seems to have followed a similar pattern of
creating undead servants. Is it true that the Master has been
kidnapping for food or is it for some other foul reason? [Note to
myself... must find out if these two mages had a hand in putting
down the Master last time]
Scroll II. We have had these words from another source. It would
appear Ruth was in the Fay lands longing to be home. I wonder if
she is still alive there... Fay lands being what they are.
Casement... a window? I am sure I have heard the term used for
fortified caves, though window is what my dictionary says. Are
these words exactly the same as the others? [Could High Father A.
let me have what he know about Ruth and Malvar. Ta.]
Scroll III. appears to have been written by the Master in his
original searching for Lich-dom. The sword would appear to be his
bane because it is an Elvish weapon that bonded itself to him. As
far as I know we also gathered from the Ancient Elves we
encountered the wood for the sword - called Iron Wood - falls from
the tree whe it is ready and cannot be cut. It is suitable for a
Mage to use since it contains no Iron. There were a couple of
other facts about this wood/sword that I should have written down
- I think Master Nathanial has them. [how about a copy then?] I
think the words at the end 'no price to high' should be a warning
to Shokah.
The two magical scrolls were General Magic School teaching
scrolls and I have returned them. Obviously the Master has used
the Sword of Wood and Thorns in his creation. We should make it
our priority to get it... before he does.
Anyway here are transripts of the scrolls.
Chisel.
Scroll I.
The creature know as the master has in my opinion to be a Lich.
It has a number of undead servants which it has created. Amongst
these number are vampires, wraiths and ghouls. I would advise
great caution if you approach him for he is obviously a
necromancer of great power.
You have asked for my views as to its goals and I have given
this much thought.
It would appear to be searching for an item, a sword of some
strange design. I beieve that it intends to use this in an ungodly
ritual. I beieve it has hidden the sword and now cannot remember
where it hid it. The sword would have to be far older than the
creature. I will discuss my thoughts with you when next we meet.
It has on a number of occasions kidnapped and sacrificed certain
types of people in what appears to be a craving for food.
Whatever it's final aims are we should attempt to stop it as I
cannot believe that to be for the good of our fair city.

General Mage Fingel in the year 821
Scroll II.
The Words of Kaliban
The voice I hear this passing night was heard, In ancient
days by Emperor and clown, Perhaps the self same song that
found a path, Through the sad heart of Ruth when sick for
home. She stood in tears amid the alien corn, The same
that oft times had, Charmed magic casements opening on the
foam, Of perilous seas in Fay Lands forlorn.
Scroll III.
I have discovered the perfect tool to perform the operation, a
weapon constructed of wood. It is an Elvish blade and very old,
but it maintains an edge through no use of magic but due to the
materials it has been constructed of. In fact it would appear to
resist any of the spells I have cast at it, including Bladesharp.
This will make the proceedure longer and more painfull but I will
not give up now, not with immortality so close.
Between each stage due to the nature of the blade it will no
doubt become bonded to me. If this remains the case ewhen the
ritual is complete I will destroy it. Until then I will call in
old favours in order to keep it safe.
The blade is a remarkable discovery perhaps even unique. I can
not beieve that the elves would willing harm such a rare tree to
produce a weapon.
All is ready soon I will reach my destiny. No price can be too
high.
